The Principal's Role In Tech-Prep

The principal is vital to the success of a Tech-Prep initiative in any school. Your support will be the checkered flag that gets everyone else in the race.

In your leadership role you will need to address these issues:

• Does the counselor have an understanding of Tech-Prep and its importance to the marketability of all students?
• Do teachers, parents and students understand that Tech-Prep is not vocational training alone? Neither is it a shop class. It is an initiative aimed at developing another component of a well-rounded person.
• Tech-Prep is a Texas Scholars option, but it is also designed to aid the forgotten majority--the median student for whom there are few programs. Tech-Prep is also designed to aid special populations.
