Overview

Personal and Protective Services is a rapidly growing career opportunity as more and more U.S. citizens require increased protective services. The private security services, estimated to pass the 1.9 million mark by the year 2000, will represent more than the local, state and federal police agencies combined. Careers in these areas are in high demand. Most criminal justice positions require training beyond high school with good grades. The high demand, high pay jobs require a four-year degree. Employees with baccalaureate degree tend to get faster promotions and more opportunities. Entry requirements for this pathway generally include excellent health, both physical and psychological, near perfect eyesight and hearing, good verifiable background, age limits (minimum and maximum), education and U.S. citizenship for government jobs.
